There is an attempt by liberal churches in this country to join “Christianity” with Islam, hence the new name Chrislam. It is beyond ignorance, if not insanity. Churches in Atlanta, Seattle, Detroit, and other places, have “preached sermons and held Sunday school lessons on the founder of Islam, Mohammad, whom Muslims consider a prophet. Qurans were also placed in the pews next to Bibles.” Those pushing this program “claim that Christians cannot love their neighbors without having a relationship with them.” Here is one such instance—“A Seattle priest has become a Muslim while also retaining her clergy status in the Episcopal Church. Her local bishop has described the development as ‘exciting.’ ‘I look through Jesus and I see Allah,’ explained the Rev. Ann Holmes Redding to the ‘Seattle Times,’ which reported that Redding puts on her Islamic headscarf on Fridays and her clerical collar on Sundays ... she still sees Jesus as her Savior, even if not divine, and plans to remain both a priest and an Episcopalian. Bishop Vincent Warner of the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia, told the Seattle Times that Redding’s embrace of Islam has not been controversial in his diocese.” The attitude of this movement cannot be expressed any better than this.

    But, there is more shocking, wooly headed thinking that is beyond imagination. Nigeria has been a hotbed of persecution, murders and the like, all perpetrated by Muslims against mostly Christians. Now it is also a focus for this Chrislamic movement. Here is a statement by one of their leaders that could not be more wrong— “Islam is a religion of peace, of love,  of miracles. When you’re talking about miracles, Islam is a miracle itself. The founding of the Koran itself is a miracle.” -Pastor Sham. Saka

    That is utter nonsense. Just the opposite is true. But, this is something we continue to hear from even our political leaders in this country. Here is another false statement from Saka— “Abraham has many children. Abraham is the father of Christianity and the father of Islam. Why are the Christian and Muslim fighting?”

    Ignoring his claim that Abraham was the father of “Christianity,” which is not strictly true in the sense it is claimed in the quote, it is especially untrue that he is the father of Islam! Islam claims succession from Abraham only because the Arabs claim physical lineage to him through Ishmael. But, Islam is the product of Mohammad and his followers and has absolutely no connection with Abraham as a religion.
